On 22–23 September 2026, REMESOS participated in the JA PRISM General Assembly in Rome, Italy, where project lead Hannes Jarke from EuroHealthNet presented the project’s objectives, activities and approach to improving mental health across Europe.
The presentation introduced REMESOS (Resilient and Mentally Healthy Societies) to representatives of JA PRISM and other European mental health initiatives, highlighting its work on population-level mental health measurement and community-based mental health support.
REMESOS aims to improve how mental health is measured and monitored across Europe while adapting and implementing Guided Functional Peer Support (GFP), a community-based approach developed in Finland. GFP is being introduced in Greece, Slovakia, Portugal and Bosnia & Herzegovina, with activities adapted to the needs of different target groups and local communities.
Strengthening Collaboration Between European Mental Health Projects
The General Assembly also provided an opportunity to highlight areas of overlap between REMESOS, JA PRISM and other EU-funded mental health initiatives.
JA PRISM focuses on strengthening mental health promotion, prevention and access to care for vulnerable population groups through the implementation of evidence-based practices across Europe.
Both initiatives share an interest in community-based mental health approaches, making collaboration particularly relevant in several areas.
Community-based mental health support: REMESOS is implementing GFP, while JA PRISM is working with approaches such as Circle of Friends and Act, Belong, Commit. Exchanging experiences and lessons learned from these interventions can help partners understand how different community-based approaches can be adapted to local needs.
Knowledge exchange and shared methodologies: Both initiatives work on the implementation and evaluation of mental health interventions. Sharing tools, research findings and practical experiences can help partners build on existing knowledge rather than duplicate work already being carried out by other projects.
Communication and dissemination: Coordinating communication activities and sharing project results can help make findings, resources and good practices available to a wider audience, including policymakers, mental health professionals and community organizations.
Building on Existing Knowledge and Experience
The importance of collaboration is also reflected in JA PRISM’s Action Plan on Synergies, which outlines opportunities for cooperation between JA PRISM, REMESOS and its sibling projects RESILIA and PREVENT.
The plan identifies several areas for joint activities, including knowledge exchange, capacity building, communication, scientific methodologies and policy collaboration.
For REMESOS, working alongside projects with similar objectives offers opportunities to share experiences, learn from different approaches and make better use of existing resources.
By strengthening cooperation between European mental health initiatives, REMESOS aims to contribute to a more coordinated approach to mental health promotion and community-based support across Europe.
